Ray A. King is a native of Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from Erskine College in 1955 and received the B.D. degree from Erskine Theological Seminary in 1958. He served as pastor of the Hickory Grove ARP Church, 1958-1959. He did graduate study at the University of Edinburgh, New College in Scotland. He earned the Th.M. degree from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary and did further graduate study at Emory University. He began teaching at Erskine Theological Seminary in 1962 and retired in 2000 as Professor of Church History. While teaching at the seminary Dr. King also served as Stated Supply pastor of the Troy and Long Cane ARP churches for 27 years. After retirement as Professor Emeritus he continued to teach M.Div. and D.Min. courses for four more years.
Dr. King presently resides in Highlands, North Carolina. He has three children and with them enjoys a rich and varied life of travel, sports, hiking, camping and exploring the rich and natural beauty of America especially preserved in National and State parks.
